Focus: Holy Week Schedule and Announcement by Pastor Rob
What kind of church shall we be? Jesus today encounters two people in need of his powerful love. In these encounters we find the blueprint of what kind of church we are called to be.
Feb 2016 Newsletter is ready. Highlights:
• The pastor’s article focuses on Lent this year and our special Lenten focus. There is also information about Lenten worship, which begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10.
• The Talent Show is rescheduled for March 6. Due to the rescheduling of the congregational dinner to this Sunday, January 31, we needed to move the Talent Show.
• Summer will eventually come – a number of summer events and details are laid out in this newsletter!
In this year’s Christmas sermon, Pastor Rob reflects on how the meaning of Christmas has shifted over time. While some of the childhood “magic” has left, the holy mystery of God’s love in the incarnation continues to overwhelm him.
Highlights:
– For All Saint’s Sunday (Nov 1) we are inviting people to bring in a picture (with frame even) of loved ones for our sanctuary.
– Pastor Rob introduces the Shepherd Ministry to Zion’s
– Hollyberry Bazaar (Nov 7!) info. Support this ministry by inviting your friends
– Advent Home Devotion Event info (Dec 2!)
Perhaps the most significant verse of the Old Testament is from Deuteronomy: “Hear O Israel, the Lord your God is one.” Shortly after declaring this, Moses instructs the people in how to raise up the next generation in faith. Powerful words for us today.

Here is the September 2015 Newsletter

• An update on our summer renovations — the lower level looks fantastic, ready for a great year of preschool and Sunday school.
• A welcome to our new staff member, Deacon Emily Myallis
• Info about a number of “Super Sundays” in September, including Rally Sunday on Sept 13

Our church embodies our mission statement: “Reflecting Christ, we are called to share God’s gifts.” We have a variety of ministries that help us discover and receive God’s gifts; we also have a variety of ministries that help us share our gifts. Any ministry we do is an opportunity for God to bless us and for us to share those gifts with others. You could really say that all of our ministries are “Outreach” but we wanted to highlight a few that reach out beyond our walls. On this section we are highlighting some of these ministries..
Be sure to check out our youth page — they do a lot of outreach! We also have a lego club worth looking at too. For a more complete picture of ways you can serve others through Zion’s, we encourage you to browse our newsletters. Finally, we partner with a number of organizations in and outside of the Lutheran church to enable us to Share God’s Gifts.
