Church
Mosaics
These are
mosaics from the floor of a church built in the early 4th
century.
How is Church remixing its culture?
Mosaics were a popular art form, especially in northern
Greece. Normally they displayed pagan myths.
Here the church uses this art for its churches, but
removes the scenes of Dionysos and other myths;
these mosaics do not tell stories like their secular
cousins but are collections of symbols.
